Chaplaincy Services at the Leon County Detention Facility

The Chaplain’s Office at the Leon County Detention Facility provides spiritual support and guidance to all incarcerated individuals, regardless of faith. Our Chaplains work to promote personal growth, moral development, and emotional well-being while supporting the facility’s mission of safety and rehabilitation.

Services Provided

· Religious Services & Worship: Regular services for a variety of faiths, including prayer groups, study sessions, and holiday observances.

· Counseling & Support: Confidential counseling for spiritual, emotional, or personal concerns.

· Religious Education: Classes, workshops, and study materials to support faith development.

· Crisis Support: Immediate assistance for those experiencing personal or family crises.

Family Emergencies

If an incarcerated individual experiences a family emergency, the Chaplain’s Office serves as a point of contact to provide guidance and facilitate communication with facility staff. Families should contact the Chaplain directly at 850-606-3430 to report an emergency.

Volunteering Opportunities

We welcome community volunteers who wish to support our faith-based programs, assist with religious services, or provide mentorship. Volunteer opportunities include:

· Leading or assisting in worship services and study groups

· Mentorship and one-on-one spiritual guidance

· Special events, such as holiday programs and religious celebrations

All volunteers must complete background checks and facility training prior to participating.

Clergy Visitation

We welcome Clergy and appreciate their interest in ministering to inmates. Special visitation privileges are afforded local Clergy to allow for more private and personal visitation of members or family members of their congregation. Please reach out to the Chaplains office to participate.

Donating Religious Materials

The Leon County Sheriff’s Office does not purchase religious materials. All religious materials are distributed only when donated by local religious organizations. Your donations help ensure that all residents have access to the resources they need to practice their faith. We accept:

· Books, study guides, and religious texts

· Prayer rugs, devotional items, and religious symbols

· Educational materials for religious classes

Please contact the Chaplain’s Office before donating to ensure materials meet facility guidelines.
